Let's start off with me saying: I love Gorillaz! I've loved them since I was 11 and the debut just came out! I loved the whole album from start to finish.

Demon Days was a fantastic album, too! While I loved "Feel Good Inc" and "Dare" (as a Happy Mondays fangirl how could I not be lurred into it by the angel voice of Shaun Ryder?) the real magical pieces where to be found on the album in other places.

Especially "Kids With Guns" is incredibly powerful and dreamy at the same time. The beat makes you want to dance the lyrics make me want to bawl. Powerful!

Back on the real topic: "Stylo" is the first single of the third Gorillaz album "Plastic Beach". I'll admit it's an album that I haven't yet given enough attention to (although it does lie around as a physical/store-bought copy somewhere in this room) but overall it's another good album my mastermind Damon Albarn (if this post was on Blur, one of my top 10 favourite bands this whole thing would be made up out of a squee).




The lyrics of this just make me go "huh?". Have a look yourself:

I think Damon Albarn proves again that you can totally rely on non-sense lyrics and still create a song that sounds more meaningful that 99% of Coldplay songs (and this is coming from someone who loves Coldplay!).

I'm not too sure what to think of Mos Def's contribution to the song. I had to get used it. It somehow hindered the whole flow of the song for at first. Soul legend Bobby Womack's vocal parts almost make the song for me, on the other hand.

I'm still a bit weary about including this song in the book. It's certainly a good one, but Gorillaz have produced better ones. I don't see in which way this one particularly stands out from their oeuvre.
